TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF USE AND SWIMMING POOL SAFETY CODE
Please note changes to our adult:child ratio effective from 1st January 2025
SUPERVISING CHILDREN
• Children under 16 MUST BE SUPERVISED AT ALL TIMES
• The minimum supervision ratio is as follows
- 0-3 years - One responsible adult to 1 child
- 4-7 years - One responsible adult to 2 children
- 8-16 years - One responsible adult to 3 children
If any member of the party is a weak or non-swimmer, they must be supervised 1:1 by a competent adult. Only you will know the ability of your children, please supervise accordingly.
• Small children under the age of 4, must wear a swim nappy; these are available for purchase from reception if required. If there is an ‘accident’, please ensure you inform the reception staff immediately. If you change a nappy please ensure you wash hands thoroughly before entering the pool.
Parties not meeting the required supervision ratio or who are not supervising responsibly will be asked to put appropriate arrangements in place or will be required to leave the leisure facilities.
Guest Swimmers
General Points
• This pool does not have a lifeguard on duty; therefore, it is imperative that you act responsibly and ensure the safety of you and your party
• The pool is fitted with an alarm system; in case of emergency, press the button the wall to sound the alarm. If in any doubt, also inform reception in person
• Strictly no running, jumping or diving; the pool is designed for leisure use and those abusing this rule will be asked to leave
• The pool area is covered by CCTV to allow monitoring of pool use and behaviour
• Whilst using the facility at Swallow Tree, guests accept responsibility for their state of health and physical condition
• Please remember that common sense, courtesy and consideration for other pool and leisure users will enable all members to enjoy these facilities
LOCKERS AND PERSONAL BELONGINGS
For security reasons and the benefits of other users, all lockers must be vacated by the end of each visit. Please ensure you vacate the changing cubicles and remove all personal items. Personal possessions are left at your own risk. Items of high value may be signed into reception for safekeeping. If any personal property is found please hand in at reception. Any property that is not claimed within 28 days will be donated to a worthy charitable cause.
POOL AND SPA
Because there is no lifeguard on duty, Swallow Tree has a Health and Safety obligation to refuse entry to unsupervised children of under 16 years. Children under 16 must be supervised by an adult who takes responsibility for their safety and behaviour. A parent may be responsible for a maximum of two children under 5, or three children under 16 in the pool at any one time. Young Adults 16-18 may use the facilities unsupervised, but consideration for others will be insisted upon. The pool is designed for leisure use only.
Diving and jumping in can cause injury to you and swimmers in the water and are totally forbidden. Maximum depth 1.6m deep end. Please do not allow children to run along the edge of the pool.
Although the pool surround is tiled with safety tiles, these can become slippery when wet. Guests use the facilities at their own risk. Please read and observe the notices displayed in the pool area.
Please do not enter the pool after a heavy meal or drinking alcohol. Except for children's floatation aids, inflatable play rings and balls are not permitted. No food or drink is to be consumed in the pool area. No glass items, except spectacles will be allowed poolside, likewise electrical items.
SAUNA AND STEAM ROOM
Please read the conditions of use on the posters situated outside the sauna and steam room, and be especially careful with young users – no children under the age of 12 to use the steam room or sauna. In the interests of hygiene, please shower prior to and after using these facilities. These facilities are mixed and appropriate attire must be worn at all times.

HYGIENE
Please shower before using the pool facilities.
No outdoor shoes to be worn in the Pool Hall.
Infants and toddlers under 4 must wear aqua nappies. These can be purchased at reception. In the event of defecation, please remove debris and inform a member of staff immediately. The pool will need to be evacuated and closed for extra treatment.
Where any member of the family group has suffered from diarrhoea and vomiting, the whole group must not use the pool for 2 weeks after the last symptoms.
